Reds and purples are the most collectible colors in costume jewelry, but good red jewelry can be hard to find! Here you will find a few of the best examples.

This floral brooch and earring set is the best of Regency, with its fuchsia, red, and red AB stones glowing against a japanned background. The clip-on earrings are shaped like individual petals. The set is both romantic and dramatic, and has lots of sparkle. Brooch 2 1/2", earrings 1" long. $148.

These earrings were sold to me as Sherman, but they are unmarked. The silvertone backing is in fine condition and appears to be rhodium plated. These earrings remind me of the HAR brooch set above, with their square-shaped design in navettes and chatons. The red and purple combination is highly desirable. Unfortunately, the center stones are slightly clouded (the others have perfect brilliance.) Price reflects. 1 1/8". $32.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is one of the cleanest examples of Czech-style Renaissance revival, circa 1900s-1930s, that has ever passed through my hands. The unfoiled center stone is a bright cherry red, in an unusual shape. It is flanked by four double-faceted raspberry-red baguettes, prong-set. The sides are accented by garlands with deep red enamel leaves and white florettes. The red enamel is translucent, the white enamel is opaque. The fleur-de-lys shaped pendant bail is set with a tiny "ruby" stone for the perfect touch. The brass filagree appears to be gold-washed and is in great condition. The chain is 24 1/2" long. Pendant is 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" -- a substantial size. Pendant bail adds 1/2" to the length. I believe that the clasp is a replacement, but I am not sure, since I did not carry out the replacement. Here is an additional picture on a neck form. $158.
